BSR endorses Public Health England 'falls and fracture' consensus statement

In England per year there are 255,000 falls-related emergency hospital admissions for older people, with resulting hip fractures costing £2 billion, with  variation in provision of cost and clinically effective interventions. Public Health England have therefore published 'Falls and fracture consensus statement: Supporting commissioning for prevention', to ensure support and encourage commissioning and provision. The report outlines the commitment to increase awareness professionally, develop quality standards and guidance, inform professional skill development and disseminate best practice.

BSR, as an organisational member of the National Falls Prevention Coordination Group, has endorsed the consensus statement.
