In celebration of National Volunteers’ Week 2021 from 1-7 June, we'd like to say a big thank you to our members, lay trustees and patient volunteers for everything they do to contribute to the growth of the Society and the rheumatology community.
In what can only be described as an exceptionally challenging 12 months, we’ve seen how dedicated and passionate our members are. Many played significant roles, working tirelessly to care for those in need, and we’re truly inspired by their personal commitment, finding ways to do things differently and make continuous improvement and sharing best practice amongst the community along the way.
This has involved updating our guidelines, supporting the launch of our ePROMs, the second National Early Inflammatory Arthritis Audit (NEIAA) report in February and most recently our new Quality Review Scheme (QRS).
We also launched two new webinar series, a new eLearning platform and saw record numbers attending our online educational courses and Adult and Paediatric Case-based Conference, which has just opened case report submissions for 2021. In April, we held our online Annual Conference, attended by more than 1300 professionals.
We've had a fantastic response from our calls to get involved with society activities this year. During our 2020 Autumn elections we recorded record levels of engagement and an 146% increase in nominations, and earlier this year members and non-members came forward to submit their team’s workforce data to support our workforce report and recommendations launching this month.
We’re doing more now than ever to encourage the community to take advantage of the opportunities that membership brings to stand out from the crowd and give something back to the specialty.
Thank you again to all our members, speakers, editors, lay and patient volunteers, committee members, reviewers, assessors and anyone else in helping us to drive excellence and facilitate education and professional development across the entire multi-disciplinary team.
