A one-day introductory level course, aimed at all professionals working in rheumatology who are new to immunology or are looking for a refresher.

This course will explore essential principles of immunology applied to the field of rheumatology. Taught through interactive lectures, the programme covers an overview of innate and adaptive immunity, inflammatory arthritis, immunotherapy of inflammatory arthritis, CAR-T therapy, immunology tests, genetic testing and more. 

Learning objectives for the day are:
  • To provide an overview of key steps in the development of an acute inflammatory response and a primary adaptive immune response.
  • To review the immune mechanisms underpinning exemplar autoinflammatory diseases, rheumatoid [inflammatory] arthritis, and
    Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
  • To review current and emerging immune therapeutic strategies in rheumatology.
