As we lead up to this year’s Annual Conference in Liverpool, we caught up with our President, Jo Ledingham so she could tell us more about her programme highlights.
I’m really looking forward to this year’s conference and hope to meet as many of you who are attending in person as possible. I’m delighted that BSR have been able to continue to support a hybrid meeting and that people who can’t attend in person can still have access to our flagship Annual Conference.
The programme is now available for you to view, and I want to thank the Heberden Committee for all their hard work in putting the programme together. As always, we have a packed programme, with so many excellent sessions and speakers it’s difficult to pull out ‘picks’!
Highlights for me include the keynote talks with this year’s Heberden Round delivered by Dr Philip Helliwell, the Heberden Oration by Prof Gary MacFarlane and the Droitwich lecture by Hilary McKee, followed by oral abstracts.
I’m pleased to see even more content for our paediatric and adolescent community with sessions taking place across two days (Thursday and Friday), including the Barbara Ansell address delivered by Dr Madeleine Rooney, followed by the paediatric and adolescent oral abstracts.
Other highlights include the Prof Justin Mason Memorial Session (with a masterclass on large vessel vasculitis), New BSR guidelines, Best Practice Awards 2024 and BSR registers – the state of play.
I realise that I’m biased but would also strongly encourage you to attend the NEIAA session to get an update on how valuable your hard work in submitting data to the audit is proving to be.
I’m excited to see the expanding use of workshops, round table discussions and the return of the debate (on whether Jak inhibitors are “friend or foe”) – all of which I hope prove to be interactive and of interest to our whole workforce, across the whole lifespan and MDT.
If you haven’t already registered, please consider doing so, either for in-person or remote attendance.
