Case-based Conference 2024: submitting an interesting case report

Our case report submissions are currently open for CBC24. If you're thinking of submitting a case report but you could do with some guidance, we have put together some handy prompts below which we hope will help. 

Infection topic:

• Do you have a case of infection, either common or unusual, which manifested with rheumatological symptoms
• Have you been involved in a case of infection in a returning traveller with arthritis related complications?
• Do you have an interesting case of rheumatic disease where an unusual infection was a complicating factor perhaps affecting treatment options?
• Have you treated patients with rheumatic disease where infection affected management outcomes?
• Have you encountered a case where infection triggered or caused rheumatic disease?
• Have you been involved in a case of rheumatic disease where the history of relevant infection was elusive or difficult to establish?
• Can you give us some examples of cases causing diagnostic dilemma of concurrent infection and arthritis?
• Do you recognise the rheumatological manifestation of common infectious diseases? Can you please give us some examples?

Lupus topic:

• Do you have a case of Lupus which has been difficult to manage due to multiple drug failures?
• Do you have a case of Lupus with challenging extra articular complications e.g. haematology, skin, brain, renal, lungs etc needing a multidisciplinary management approach?
• Have you encountered a case of Lupus with a rare complication (HLH) or consequence of active disease?
• Do you have a case of Lupus nephritis that has presented unusually or been difficult to control?
• Have you had a case relating to lupus with coexistent antiphospholipid syndrome that have been challenging to treat?
• Have you encountered cases of Lupus with challenging co-morbidity such as Diabetes/hypertension/malignancy/mental health disorders as consequence of disease or treatment?
• Tell us an instance about a case of Lupus where you have used novel treatment pathways

Obstetrics in rheumatology topic:

• Do you have a case which highlights the challenge of managing rheumatic conditions in the context of pregnancy?
• Do you have any complex rheumatic conditions such as SLE and RA where alternative strategies have had to be employed during pregnancy?
• Do you have any interesting or challenging cases of post-partum arthritis?
• Do you have any cases of pregnancy associated osteoporosis?
• Have you seen any cases of patients with rheumatic disorders with pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia, preterm delivery and low birthweight infants?
• Have you had any cases of APLS in child bearing women and how their pregnancies have been managed?
• Do you have any cases of patients with rheumatology associated fertility problems?
• Have you seen any cases with DMARD/biologic related issues in the context of pregnancy?
• Do you have any cases of hypermobility disorders with associated obstetric challenges?

Case report submission will close on Friday 28 June, 11:59 BST. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel and your submission may be chosen to be an oral presentation, poster showcase presentation or a poster.
