We’re delighted to announce Dr Mwidimi Ndosi (University of the West of England) as the new Editor-in-Chief of our open access journal, Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP).
Having served as Co-Editor of the journal since its launch in 2017, Mwidimi is well positioned to take the helm, and we are delighted that he has chosen to continue his work with us. As Associate Professor in Rheumatology Nursing, Mwidimi is the first non-medic to take up editorship of a BSR journal, and we are excited to see how his experience and interests drive RAP’s aim to be your go-to journal for clinical rheumatology research and practice.
Mwidimi says:
“I am honoured to step into this role and continue building on the strong foundation of RAP. My goal is to ensure the journal remains a dynamic, inclusive space for high-quality clinical rheumatology research that truly impacts patient care.”
Mwidimi succeeds Dr Ai Lyn Tan (University of Leeds), whose 5-year term saw RAP go from strength to strength under her outstanding leadership. Ai Lyn reflects on her tenure as Editor-in-Chief in her farewell editorial; key successes include gaining the journal’s first impact factor, introducing lay summaries to improve research accessibility for patients, and launching our popular Current and future advances in practice series, which aims to provide practical guidance for under-served areas of rheumatology practice.
Ai Lyn says:
“Leading Rheumatology Advances in Practice has been an incredible journey, and I am so proud of how the journal has grown into a vibrant, accessible, and impactful resource for the rheumatology community. It has been a joy to work with such a dedicated team and to champion research that truly makes a difference in patient care. I’m excited to see RAP continue to flourish under Mwidimi’s inspiring leadership!”
We would like to thank Ai Lyn for her exemplary leadership and vision for Rheumatology Advances in Practice, and very much look forward to the journal’s continued growth and development under Mwidimi’s excellent direction.
